Competition Terms and Conditions 

From time to time, Tasman District Libraries holds competitions for library users.

Every competition will have its own special terms and conditions (Special Terms) in respect to age groups, dates, prizes and logistics which will be advertised when the respective competition takes place. The Special Terms will also stipulate whether the winner is drawn from a ballot or selected by a judge or panel.

The following are the Library's general terms and conditions (General Terms) which apply to all competitions.

1. Entries and Prize Draw

   1. When entering a competition, you are agreeing to the General Terms and the respective Special Terms.
   2. Tasman District Libraries reserves the right to disqualify any entry which does not meet the Terms and Conditions for the competition.
   3. Entries received after the specified closing date will not be accepted. 
   4. Prize draws/selections will be made on the date and in the manner as advertised. Winners will be contacted as per the contact details provided on the entry forms. If a winner does not acknowledge receipt, cannot be contacted and/or is not available in person to accept the prize within the advertised timeframe the draw/selection will be cancelled and another draw made.
   5. If a prize or part of a prize becomes unavailable (for any reason), we reserve the right to provide the winner with a substitute prize.
   6. Prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable to any other person.
   7. By accepting the prize, the winner consents to Tasman District Libraries using the winner’s details, photographs and other material for reasonable promotional purposes including but not limited to print articles, website and social media, and online marketing.
   8. The prize draw or selection decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

2. Privacy

   1. The information provided on the entry form will only be used to contact the winners and for promotional purposes if the entrant has given consent on the entry form.
   2. All entrants consent to that, if they win a prize, Tasman District Libraries may use their name and photograph for reasonable promotional purposes, including but not limited to print articles, website, social media, and online marketing.
   3. All information provided by the entrants will be collected, used, stored, disclosed and corrected in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. All entrants have the right to access their information and request for any personal information to be corrected. 
3. Exclusions
   1. Subject to the exclusions in the Special Terms, the following persons may usually not enter the competition and are not eligible to win any prize:
      1. Anyone who is not a resident in The Nelson/Tasman region at the time of the prize draw/selection.
      2. Anyone who works for Tasman District Libraries, including temp workers and volunteers.
   2. Tasman District Libraries reserves the right to exclude any person from participating in the competition at its sole discretion. Tasman District Libraries also reserves the right to refuse to award a prize to an entrant who is in breach of the General Terms and/or the Special Terms, gained an unfair advantage in participating in the competition, or won a prize by using fraudulent means.
4. General
   1. Tasman District Libraries, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to change, extend or terminate the competition at any stage, for any reason.
   2. Tasman District Libraries is not responsible or liable for:
      1. Any part of the prize winner’s costs and expenses in accepting or using the prize.
      2. Any inability to complete or submit the entry form or any delays in submitting the entry form for any reason.
      3. The entrant’s details on their entry form, in particular if the winner cannot be contacted due to incorrect or out-of-date details provided.
      4. Not recording, for whatever reason, an entry form into the prize draw or selection.
      5. Any loss damage or personal injury in connected with the prize or its use by the winner.
