Unity Week NZ UNITY (unityweek.co.nz) 15 - 21 March.
This week is a special time for us to come together, remember the lessons of the 15 March 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks, and recommit ourselves to reconnecting with each other. The week is led by Sakinah Community Trust, a group of seven women who lost their loved ones in the March 15 attacks. The message of Unity Week NZ is simple yet powerful - we can achieve peace by respecting each other and accepting our similarities and differences. We believe that by coming together, we can create a more connected, inclusive, and peaceful community.
Last Thursday at Richmond Library we had members of our community share a cup of tea and write proverbs and messages of unity on a garland of linked hands. This garland is currently on display in the Richmond Library. If you would like to join Motueka Library Te Noninga Kumu and contribute to their Unity Week garland they are hosting a UniTea at 4.00pm on Wednesday (20 March).
