The 2025 Summer Reading Adventure has ended with winners being announced this week. The Summer Reading Adventure began on the 6th of January and ended on the 28th of February. This summer children were asked to Read, Explore and Discover! The goal was to see how many times they could read; the goal was set at 50 times and most children exceeded that.
Explore many different places to read was another fun task set by children’s librarians. We’ve discovered the best spot to read is all cosy in bed.
Discover is where the fun began! Children with their whanau were able to discover all the fun events and activities that were on offer in all four of our library branches. From Out & About to Get Crafty and Lego Fun! Being able to take the library Out & About is a real highlight and a great way to meet new people.
We have had a total of 438 children take part in the Summer Reading Adventure, with 10,819 reading times over two months. We have some big readers in Tasman that’s for sure!
This reading adventure had proven popular this summer, we look forward to doing it all again in 2026!
