The interest in Matariki this year has been amazing. Te Noninga Kumu: Motueka Library is proud to have contributed to these celebrations.
On Friday 24 June we hosted a concert by a local group of performers, Te Oro H?. This moving performance about the Matariki stars was incredible and attracted 120 attendees.
To continue the Matariki magic Mauri Tau: a Matariki Audio Experience took place on Monday 4 July. Mauri Tau is a unique storytelling experience that weaves together the magic of theatre, your whakapapa to the stars and nature. The guided audio experience immerses you in a playful and reflective Sound Play alongside Te K?hui o Matariki.
Another beautiful Matariki activity was the Matariki Pohutukawa tree. Pohutukawa is one of the nine stars of Matariki and is connected to those who have passed on. We invited people to honour their loved ones by writing their name or a favourite memory on a flower and adding it to our tree.
