Last Thursday evening, 24 August 2023, Kyla McKenzie, curator, and Julie Catchpole, director of The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū facilitated a How To Look At Art session at Richmond Library. The focus of this session was Tākaka-born artist Leo Bensemann.
After a year-long hiatus this event was well supported by 50-odd people from our community. A rare book, galleys and exquisite engravings were on display.
Our next How To Look At Art in early October takes a different approach, responding to the Step into Spring initiative, with a guided walking tour of artworks in our public spaces around the Richmond township. Details will be promoted closer to the time.
