Talking Books for Teens

Monday 31 May 2021

There is a discernible reduction in borrowing and reading for pleasure once children enter their teen years. The pressures of school, sport, socialising and work make scarce any time for relaxing with a good book. One solution is to listen, rather than read. Search 'YTB' on our library catalogue to see what we have in the way of talking books for teens. Hearing a story read aloud helps listeners to appreciate the richness of vocabulary and dialogue, as well as develop critical listening skills.

If there is no longer a CD player in your home, why not download one of our library apps to get access to thousands of e-Books and e-Audio. For teen titles, the Libby app is a good place to start. All you need is your library card and a couple of minutes to get set up.
