October Movie Night at Richmond Library

Wednesday 10 October 2018

Did you know that during World War II, the British and US armies sent a crack team of art experts behind enemy lines to rescue priceless works of art from the destructive clutches of the Nazis? It's true.

As well as seeking and hoarding the finest art treasures his armies could find, Adolf Hitler had a list of art he considered "degenerate" and planned to destroy.

In response, a special force of American and British museum directors, curators, art historians and others, called the Monuments Men, were sent into the war zone and risked their lives to prevent the destruction of hundreds of years of culture.

October's Movie Night at Richmond Library is set during this time and stars Cate Blanchett, George Clooney and John Goodman.

Movie Night is at 7.00pm on Friday 19 October at Richmond Library. Register at Richmond Library or phone 03 543 8500 to book your spot.

It is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
