Level 2 at Your Library
Tuesday 12 May 2020
We are so pleased to be able to start gradually reintroducing library services under Level 2.
Key dates and information
The following information applies to Motueka, Takaka, Richmond and Murchison libraries, except where exceptions are indicated. Here is the information you need to know:
- Library opening hours at Motueka, Richmond and Takaka Libraries are 10.00am – 4.00pm, from Monday to Friday. Murchison Library is open from 10.00am - 4.00pm, Tuesday to Friday. Richmond and Motueka Libraries are open on Saturdays from 10.00am - 1.00pm. Takaka Library will be open on Saturdays between 10.00am and 1.00pm from Saturday 6 June.
- The after hours returns bins are open from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, at Richmond Library; and from 9.00am-4.00pm at Motueka and Takaka Libraries. Murchison Library's after hours returns bins are open 9.00am-4.00pm, Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, Motueka and Richmond Libraries after hours returns bins are open from 9.00am-1.00pm.
- At Richmond Library, only the Petrie carpark returns bin is open. The Queen St returns bin will remain closed until further notice.
Please note – the library items that you issued before lockdown and which were due during lockdown can stay there for a while longer as we’re not charging overdue fines on these items until 30 June. There’s no rush to return them.
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our staff and library community is a big concern for us. So please expect the following safety measures:
- The libraries will only be open for short (up to 30 minute) visits to issue new items.
- There will be no events taking place at the libraries (for example – Tiny Tots, book groups, craft groups etc will not be taking place until further notice).
- We will be limiting the number of customers that are in the library to enable physical distancing. Please queue outside the library entrance with 2m spacing until you are invited to enter.
- At Richmond Library, the only public entry will be through the Queen St entrance. The Petrie carpark entrance will remain closed.
- We are a contact tracing site. Have your library card ready to scan at the entrance. If you don’t have a library card then we will record your details and issue you with a temporary barcode for library access.
- From 10.00am-11.00am each open day we will be prioritising visits from vulnerable members of our community, such as people over the age of 70.
- We’d like just one family member to come into the library at a time (within reason of course – parents with small children and no possible caregivers are an exception). Children must stay within arms distance of the adult and not interact with other customers. All people who enter the building need to be contact traced, including children.
- Children under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult caregiver while in the library.
- Returned items (books, CDs, DVD, magazines etc) will be quarantined for 72 hours.
Services we will be offering
- At this time we are only able to offer new issues of items – such as books, magazines, CDs and DVDs.
- We will not be holding events (such as Tiny Tots, book groups, craft groups etc) at the libraries and our meeting rooms will be closed.
- Jigsaw puzzles may be borrowed, but we are not currently accepting donations.
- We will not be providing newspapers to read in the library. But you can still read newspapers online using PressReader.
- We will not be selling pre-loved library books.
- The recently returned shelves will not be open for borrowing.
- Photocopying and scanning will not be available.
- APNK wifi is available but we will not be providing computers for you to use. You may use your own device but we’d prefer that you stayed outside the library to use the wifi.
- Some areas of the library will be one way – so that customers are able to remain physically distanced from each other.
We will update this information as the situation evolves and we are able to offer more services.
