2021 Feb Community Korowai close up

In the lead up to Waitangi Day people of all ages and across the district were invited to decorate paper feathers for our special community korowai (cloak). Celebrating our wonderful community and acknowledging Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the feathers contain messages relating to kōtahitanga – unity and togetherness.

The 428 feathers decorated by individuals, friends and families have now been pieced together.

The korowai is currently on display at Richmond Library, and will be touring the other Tasman District Libraries soon, so you will be able to see it at your local library.
