Summer Safari - Tasman's Summer Reading Programme

The summer reading programme starts on Monday 10 December, 2018.

What is Summer Safari?

Summer Safari rewards Tasman District Library members aged 5 to 12 years old.

The programme is designed to encourage children to continue reading through the school holiday break. It's a fun way to keep the reading habit developing.

How Does It Work?

All children have to do is read for 15 minutes or more each day, complete at least 3 activities and check in 3 times between Monday 17 December 2018 and Friday 1 February 2019.

At every check in readers can choose a small reward. They can then find some more wonderful library books to enjoy.

Expert library staff are on hand to help find just the right book for your child.

On completing Summer Safari, successful readers are awarded a certificate at their school assembly early in 2019.

How Do I Register?

There are no restrictions on the number of participants and there's a long period for registrations and check ins.

You'll need to fill in a form for each child you are registering.

Once My Child is Registered What Do I Have to Do?

Collect your reading log from your local library from Monday 10 December.

Then it's a matter of reading, reading, reading for at least 15 minutes each day and completing 3 or more check in challenges from the range of options listed on the reading log.

Reading can be done anywhere and can be:
