August is Family History Month at Richmond Library and with the Queen Street upgrade in mind, our theme this year is Queen Street through the years.

Guest presenter Darryl Gallagher from Nelson Provincial Museum will be running a workshop on caring for your photographs and photo albums. Bring along your photographs for advice.

A beyond the basics course, suitable for anyone who has attended an Introduction to Family History course or who has experience with searching online family resources including birth, marriage and death records. This course includes tips and tricks for breaking through brick walls in your family history research as well as an overview of parish registers, wills and probate, military records and other online resources to help widen your research. Papers Past contains digitised pages from 19th and early 20th century New Zealand newspapers, including newspapers from the Nelson area up until 1922. Queen Street Heritage Photos
Queen Street Richmond Heritage Photos Do you have original photos of Queen Street that you’d be happy for us to borrow, copy, and publish online? We are looking for photographs from the 1800s through to the 1980s. Photos can be of the shops, businesses, houses and farms in upper, central and lower Queen Street, Richmond.
